Welcome to Chipstead Bowling Club website.

Chipstead Bowling Club is a popular Bowling club situated just off the A23 in the picturesque village of Chipstead which is on the borders of Surrey, close to Coulsdon. Located on High Road the entrance to the club is via the car park at the edge of the Meads near Elmore pond.

To my regular readers out there, if any, my apologies for failing to update this site last week due to a complete falling over of my hardware. Yet again I am forced into further expenditure. Damned technology.

However, herewith my final update of the 2009 season which is written in possibly the best weather of the summer so far. C'est la vie.

Saturday 12th saw our last ESL game of the season against our old friends and enemies Epsom. A final flourish to the league season with a fine 3 rinks to 1 and overall win thus securing 5 of the 6 points up for grabs. It looks as though we will finish in 4th or 5th position this year out of the 13 Clubs participating.

On Saturday 19th we travelled to the neutral Wallington green for the final of the S & D B A Yonwin Cup final against Cuddington. A 3 rink competition which saw us get off to a flier leading well after the first few ends by 16 shots to 4. By midway they had closed the gap to 4 shots but from that point we moved slowly ahead with 3 winning rinks out of 3. In fact the 3rd rink did not play their last 3 ends as we were an overall 27 shots ahead at this stage.

This result was excellent news for the Club as not only have we now won this prestigious local competition 3 times in the last 4 years but we did it this year by using a squad of 20 players during the 5 rounds played. This  all bodes well for the future. Well done to all involved.

Sundays Triples Day was won by a visiting Purley triple who just edged out a Chipstead triple led by Dickie Day. Again we need to thank not only the Almighty for granting us yet another glorious late September day but also all the Chipstead members who gave up the opportunity to play to work hard in the background and thus ensure the success of the day.

So there we have it. 2 more FLOB nights this week and the possibility of informal rollups through to next Sunday and we can kiss goodbye to yet another outdoor season. Doesn't time fly when you are enjoying yourself.

We now revert to winter Bar openings on Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes and on Wednesday evenings for Darts matches and Saturday evenings for monthly Quiz Nights. Winter well and lets all look forward to 2010 when Chipstead Bowls Club will be celebrating its Centenary Year.
